T is for turkey! And this turkey is made from a used toilet paper roll. All you need for this Thanksgiving craft is a toilet paper roll and scissors.
Here’s what you need to make a tp turkey
- 1 toilet paper roll
- Scissors
- Single hole punch
- Pencil
- Sharpie marker
- Glue
- White scrap paper
- Cereal box
How to make a toilet paper roll turkey
This tp roll turkey is an easy, fun Thanksgiving day craft to make with the kids!
Step 1- Cut the tp roll in half
First, cut your toilet paper tube in half with a pair of scissors.
Step 2- Make the turkey’s head
Then, grab an empty cereal box and it’s time to make the turkey’s head, gobble, and feathers! The turkey’s head is really easy, doodle on an oval with a squiggle line gobble and a giant black beak. Cut it out and Bam! Done.
Step 3- Make eyes
Use the hole punch to punch 2 white eyes and black pupils with a marker. Glue the eyes to the head.
Step 4- Make feathers
Now, for the feathers. Use your pencil to draw a 4in diameter circle. Then draw a line through the center of it, you only need a semi circle! Now, zig zag the top part of your circle and add black lines to represent feathers. To attach the feathers to the body, set the feathers on the turkey body and use a pencil to mark where the slits will be cut so that the feathers can easily slid into the tp tube.
Attach the feathers to the turkey body and give your little turkey some webbed feet! Obviously, this would be a fun craft for Thanksgiving too! Don’t mind that I’m posting about it at the end of March.
And now for a few fun facts about turkeys
- Turkeys form strong bonds with their families and flock mates and travel long distances as a group.
- Wild turkeys sleep in trees to keep away from predators!
- A male turkey is called a tom or a gobbler, a female turkey a hen, and a baby turkey a poult or chick.

Cute! I think I will try this with my preschoolers, but let them use pretty colored feathers. The brighter, the better for them!
