I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day! We celebrated love day with a first birthday for our sweet friends son!

So, 2 years ago yesterday on February 14, 2014, I posted this post about bathroom demolition tips and how to remove a toilet and lots of over uber exciting bathroom remodeling things. Very romantic. We started a major bathroom remodel, oh about 6 weeks before our first baby was born. Great timing, right?! Well, 2 years later, we are basically doing the same thing! Baby girl is due on Feb. 29th (rooting for a Leap Day arrival!) and bathroom remodel is about half way done. Perfect! We did get a little smarter… we are not trying to DIY the bathroom ourselves! A little background, our house has 2 full bathrooms, this is the real master bathroom, but not the one we use. I know, I know… we’re confused over here. But, the way our house is laid out just makes more sense for us to share a big bathroom (with a bathtub) with Maxwell, and have our bedrooms closer together, at least for now. Much like our first bathroom remodel, this bathroom was also given a jolly coat of beige spray paint on every surface and the paint was chipping everywhere. PSA: Please do not ever paint your tile, at least in areas that get a lot of use. It will chip and it’s gross and for the love, mint tile is awesome! Side note: this bathroom did not have mint tile, from what we can tell this bathroom had all white tile, which is way better than yellowy beige, if you ask me. But, we also did not spend copious amounts of time scraping it like we d id the first time around, ha!

Note the beautiful beige tile! And the same pedestal sink as our other bathroom had with no storage underneath. We decided to have a custom vanity built in here too. The space we have is too narrow for most regular cabinets. We only have about 17 inches of space to work with and we want to make it as long as possible.

This bathroom is so small it makes taking pictures of it really tricky! So, here I am standing at the back of the shower. What a view! The handle on the bottom right is the shower door.

And here is the opposite view, wow! Its’ so beige and well… tiny! And the weird textured glass. And these pictures were taken basically when we moved in almost 3 years ago, I did not get any beauty shots of what the now chipping paint looks like!  I was too exited to have it gone to care about taking pictures.

To solve the storage issues, I had done a few super easy things, like hang up some trusty Command Brand products on the back of the door. You can see more about organizing a small bathroom with no storage here.

Oh and the light fixture, you must see that! The next few pictures are, obviously, from after the start of the remodel! So, before there were no ceiling lights, just this 3 light beaut.

Here’s the current state of the bathroom. The shower pan was poured, the plumbing and electrical work was completed and now we are ready for the tile! FYI: The pouring of the shower pan is toxic and smelly. Open all of your windows and be prepared to sleep somewhere else for at least one night, maybe more if you are in a close vicinity to the shower pan that was poured!

And now for the really exciting part… the tile! I’m petty excited about those 8 inch dark grey hexagons! So, the plan, as of now, is to put the white penny tile on the floor and up the back wall of the shower. The dark hexagons will cover the 2 side walls. Can’t wait to see it all installed! (And not gonna lie, super excited that me and my giant prego belly are not installing it!)

Here’s the small bathroom remodel plan:

• Moving the shower controller to the left wall versus it being directly underneath the shower head on the right wall. I’ve always thought this makes so much more sense! Who wants to be standing directly under the shower head when you first turn on the freezing water?
• Tile from floor to ceiling on 3 walls.
• Adding 2 can lights to the ceiling.
• Adding a vent (with a heater!) to the ceiling.
• Frameless, glass shower, much like our first bathroom remodel! I think this alone will make a huge visual difference with space and light!
• We are using the Moen 90-Degree series for the shower and sink faucet and light fixture.
• Building a custom cabinet to fit in our narrow 17 in. cabinet space.
