If you’ve been hanging out on C.R.A.F.T. for any amount of time, you likely aware of my love for DIY costumes! This DIY baby Game Boy costume is one of 6 costumes I made for my son for his first Halloween. Yes, six! Here are the other 5 easy DIY baby costumes:
And the 6th costume is his DIY Gameboy baby costume. I mean, look at my sweet baby Tetris! As a baby of the 80’s, I loved my big red Game Boy and Tetris was my absolute fave!
Here’s what you need to make this DIY baby costume
- White onesie
- Sheets of felt
- Fabric glue (or sewing machine)
- Fabric scissors
- A brown bag (or something else to slide inside the onesie while gluing)
How to make a DIY Baby Game Boy Costume
Word to the wise, let the fabric glue dry completely! Also, I do not recommend washing this costume in the washing machine. If you’re using fabric glue, this onesie will only last the night. Sewing it all done would be easy and make the costume last a whole heck of a lot longer.
Step 1- Cut felt pieces
First, cut out all of the felt pieces. Here’s what you need:
- Grey screen
- White square
- 5 Game Boy Buttons
- Colored squares to form the Tetris shapes
Step 2- Glue Tetris pieces
I glued all of the colored square pieces to the white “Tetris screen” square first. Let it dry completely.
Step 3- Glue to Onesie
Insert a brown paper lunch bag or a peice of a card board box into the onesie. This is so you don’t glue the front and back of onesie together. Glue the grey “Tetris screen” screen to the oneisie and then glue the white square centered on that.
Step 4- Add baby!
Here’s the finished onesie minus the cute baby!
Any other Tetris lovers out there? And what should Max and Mila be for Halloween this year? I’d love some ideas! And if you are looking for more DIY baby costumes don’t miss:
