Happy December! Snail mail and family pictures are 2 of my favorite things. Which is why Chrsitmas cards are always high on my to do list this time of year. I love to send and receive all the cards. I started the holiday card tradition the year after we got married. (Just for fun, here’s a list of 72 Christmas traditions.) Check out our holiday cards for 2013, 2014, 2015! I teamed up with Minted.com to send our first Christmas cards as a family of four. (Can you believe Mila is 8 months old?) We had our friend and awesome photographer Laura Morsman take our holiday pictures this year. When you’ve got 2 small kids, 30 minutes of attempting to look nice and smile is about all we can handle. Laura rocked it, I love how our pictures turned out…
I could spend hours and hours looking through Chrsitmas cards and picking out the perfect one for us. But, mama doesn’t have time for that! Here’s what I do to ensure that I don’t get sucked into the Chrsitmas card crazy. I set set aside 1 hour. I get one hour to look through all of the cards, pick out the perfect one, and finalize the card details. If I don’t give myself a time limit I start fretting over silly things like rounded corners or scalloped edge? For the record, I went with rounded.
One thing that really helps me find the perfect card is Minted’s Find It Fast. To turn on this feature, login to your account, then click the “Find It Fast” button on in the upper left hand corner. (See below.) This feature allows you to upload your favorite picture and then displays your picture in each of the thumbnails of the holiday cards. You can instantly see which card works best with your favorite picture. Genius.
So, here’s the final verdict! I went with Joyful Greetings and black a white polka dotted envelope liners from Minted. Another tip, I like to make sure the year is somewhere on the card. You can see under the big black “Merry” it says “xo The Dorobeks | 2016”.
And now for a few close ups of our beautiful Chrsitmas picture photo session with Laura Morsman on her front porch. This is the one I used for the front of the cards!
I can’t even handle the sweetness of this one. I had to get stamps made out of it.
These are action shots of the “high five game”, ha! Basically Max gives you a high five and you have to pretend it hurts really bad. He laughs hysterically. What a sweetie 🙂
Oh and I’m purposefully not showing y’all the back of the card! Something has to be a surprise for all the peeps that get our cards in the mail. Oh and I love this picture too.
Do you have any tips or tricks for doing holiday cards? I’d love to hear…
