How to make a DIY chocolate chip cookie costume
This DIY cookie costume works well for kids and adults!
Step 1- Draw 2 cardboard circles
First, make a DIY compass with a pencil, string, and a peice of tape. Tie a 10inch string around the pencil and tape the string to the middle of the cardboard. Next, use the pencil to make a large circle in the middle of the cardboard. My circle is about 20 inches in diameter. Repeat this step to make 2 cardboard circles.
Step 2- Cut out the circles
Place one piece of cardboard on the cutting board and use and box cutter to cut out both circles. Remember a chocolate chip cookie is not perfectly round so don’t worry if you don’t follow the pencil line exactly.
Step 3- Paint the circles
Water down the brown paint by squirting a small amount of brown paint out on a paper plate (or leftover cardboard). Next, dip a clean paint brush into a cup of water and then swirl it in the brown paint. Then, I use a paint brush to give the edge of the cookies a nice golden brown edge. I added a few brown highlights in the center of both of the circles too.
Step 4- Cut and glue chocolate chips
Cut out 11 or so oval-ish chocolate chips. Again, melted chocolate chips are never perfectly round or oval so get crazy! Or have a kiddo do it 😉 Then, glue the chocolate chips to each giant cookie.
Step 5- Add straps
Use scissors to cut 2-10 inch pieces of black ribbon. Hold the cookies up to your cookie model to determine exactly how long the ribbon needs to be for your costume wearer. Then, heat up the hot glue gun and glue the end of each piece of ribbon to the backside of the each peice of cardboard.
Step 6- Make a milk bag
Cut 2 blue stripes and the letters M-I-L-K out of blue construction paper. Then, glue them on the white gift bag for a perfectly corresponding candy bag for the DIY cookie costume!
