Last time you saw our desk it looked like this… aka, a figment of my imagination!
Empty wall, lots of wires, and one lonely chair is a sad story.
As of today, I’m happily typing up this post from my almost finished desk… So far so good. (Note: I am very apologetic to neighbors on all sides of us… what do you like for dinner? We’ll make it up to you! We have been sewing/drilling on the desk in the evenings.) It needs a little more love… trim around the top, stain, and possibly cabinet doors. This whole area is getting a makeover in the near future… shelving, storage, all kinds of good stuff!

I am voting dark!

It's so fabulous! I say dark stain, simple doors (i.e., no knobs). Ready, set, go!

Oh! It really turned out nice!! I'd go with a dark stain. It would "pop" from the lighter wall color and really show off your hard work. I'd leave off the doors and find dark wicker baskets that fit in the cubbies. That would hide the clutter, but still add a texture. You could line the baskets with a fabric that coordinates with the drapes or another element in the room for another tie in.

i vote tung oil- more natural and organic. i think it is ok to mix woods in a room, too. and i think it would look really cool with a fun paper mod podged in the back of the open spaces!

It looks amazing! I want one now! 😉 I'd go with dark and the cut outs. 🙂

That desk is awesome! I vote for dark like the rest of the furniture. Plus it will stand out better. I kind of like them open, but the cut outs are fun too. I can't wait to see the end result!

I really like the darker color better. Like the color of your cabinets, its a really rich, beautiful color. As far as covering the cubbies, it depends on if you're going to always keep them perfectly organized, because if they get cluttered, the desk will look cluttered.

this is really nice! I think I like the tung oil best, although, what about painting it the same color as the wall? That might be fun too…..
