This is sew-simple. (Gotta love a little cheezy). You can find old, funky pillow cases at garage sales/ 2nd hand stores/goodwill for nothing. Now, you can turn them into a lovely skirt in T-minus 30 minutes!
Here’s how:
1: Cut off the end of the pillow case so that you have a tube of fabric. Make sure the fabric tube fits around your hips 🙂
2: Put your “fabric tube” on your body inside out, and decide how tight you want your skirt. Be aware that there is NO zipper, so this skirt is going on over your head (If you are large chested this might not work for you, I don’t have that issue!)
3: Most pillow cases are made with only one seam, I made sure that seam was centered on my bum.
4: Now, pin a dart on either side of the seam…I used 2 darts. Make the waist/hip fit you!
5: Last, you need to fold down the top to make the band. I folded the raw fabric over about .5 in. and sewed.
6: Then fold the band down another .5 in. and sew by hand if you do not want stitching showing on your waist band. (I like the look of raw stitches so I used my machine…my mom thought that was tacky!)

I love this skirt! I have a white embroidered pillow case that I am going to try this with. I just made a shirt using two silk scarves. I thought you might be interested. Here's the link:

That is such a great idea. I often see affordable and beautiful pillowcases at Ross or Marshalls. I don't buy them because I don't need that many at home, but now I can see a different purpose. Great idea!!
