I think I’m finally happy with my bedroom…
(minus the lone window behind the bed…any ideas?)
(minus the lone window behind the bed…any ideas?)
We totally gave the dresser a makeover…it was hard work…
if you need help/ questions about re-staining a piece of furniture feel free to e-mail me ([email protected]), and be sure to get an electric sander (we tried to do it by hand!)
You can get one at Wal Mart or Harbor Freights for $20. The handles of the dresser are from IKEA, lamps from Target, Mirror is a hammy down from my great grand mother
(I stained the gold frame darker using the same stain I used on the dresser!)
LOVE these bookshelves from West Elm, I found one for a steal on Craigslist.com. The white plastic stool is from Overestock.com! Used my perfume as decoration…this has turned out to be a handy place to keep my perfume!
The bed is also from overstock.com, the nightstands came from Target, the night stand lamps are from T.J. Maxx, The framed map was a great little find…the map was $5.00 and I framed it at Hobby Lobby on a half of framing week!
This is the problem window…the bed can not be moved to another wall…what should I do with the window?
The walls were a fun project. I used a laser level to make straight lines, taped the lines, and started painting. I used a 3 color paint chip from Lowes as my inspiration for the walls!
What do you think of the paint chip wall?

i agree with everyone i love the room! as far as the window, you could try hanging a big canvas art piece over it so the light shines through the art or make a set of cloth blinds such as the ones here: http://blog.goodwillsc.org/diy-roman-shades/ hope this helps! XD

I don't normally post but thought I might just this one time b/c I was totally blown away that you have the same "window issue" that I have! It's such a pain, you have my total sympathy, believe you me. Not sure if someone mentioned this somewhere else, but the idea I had was to balance my room out. Put something roughly the same size and shape to the left of the window. That could add some height to your room. Another idea (since I noticed your slanted ceiling) is to take a medium sized print and a smaller print and make it a cascading window, med. print, and small print. So it follows the shape of the ceiling. Just some ideas-would love to know if they work for you : )

I really am a fan of the green/black white combo and it is fun to see something a bit more contemporary here. The stripes are a fun icing to the look.

I love the dresser- how did you get such a nice dark rich stain on it? I am re-doing one right now and need to get it dark like that–what did you use? ann http://housefinally.blogspot.com/2010/

Looks awesome!!! Hmmm on the window. I think I would go for a very simple sleak panel. White perhaps. Just one that hangs straight. So that when it is closed it looks like art. I am sure you could find an awesome fabric somewhere with an artsy print. When something in a room is just not working but there is no way aorund it, I find that making it look purposeful sometimes helps? So instead of trying to hide the window or blend it in, bring it out.
Thansk for the vote today!!!

You did a stunning job on a tight budget.
For the window, I'd be tempted to hang a simple panel and then tie it back on the right hand side; I feel like that would balance the bed nicely.
