If you can braid, you can make a hex nut bracelet.
Materials
- Gold or silver hex nuts (gold are significantly more expensive- 4 for $1.07)
- household twine
- vice grips
If I did it again I would tie in 4 strings. I ended up adding a 4th string to wrap around the knot.
This part can be frustrating….the braid will want to flip around a little and this will mess up your flow! All you are doing is a simple braid adding a hex nut after each strand is crossed…use your fingers to manipulate the hex nuts!
I made my braid long enough to wrap around my wrist 3 times…
Make sure loop is a good size for your twine ball to fit through… not too small, not too big…just right, you know like Goldilocks 🙂
I’ve made 2: a silver only and a mixed silver and gold…which one do you like better?
I’m sure there are cuter ways to make clasps, but I kind of like my rustic simple, free approach. What do you think?

This is so cute! I love it! And I'm very impressed you managed to take pictures while making any kind of jewelry… that's one of my latest major blog-related struggles and I'm crazy-impressed when people do it well! : )
So creative and imaginative
like so much that i tweeted it. @juliecache
When I was little, and used to make friendship bracelets with my friends, I used to use my feet to hold them still… or I would stick a safety pin through the knot and stick them to my jeans to hold them down.
I have been wanting to try some sort of braided bracelet. I love yours.
I love this! Seems pretty simple too.
I love this! A nutty twist to an old style! 🙂 I've been looking for a new, simple bracelet idea. Thanks for sharing!!
I love this, love it truly! I collect washers from the bike inner tubes my husband goes through and I plan to use those instead of the hex nuts, thank you for a great idea! Pinned it so I won't forget!
This is super cute…and I was just browsing her blog last night. Awesome stuff.
