Remember the beach baby shower I told you about? I made easy crepe paper flowers to embellish whatever needed embellishing at the baby shower. I added the paper flowers to every plain container I could find.
Materials needed for crepe paper flowers
- Rolls of crepe paper
- Scissors
- Pen
- Brads (These multi colored brads would be fun!)
How to make crepe paper flowers
Step 1 – Fold crepe paper
First, fold the crepe paper like a fan and draw a petal shape on the top layer with a pen.
Step 2 – Cut the crepe paper
Next, use the outline as a guide and trim the crepe paper to make at least 10 flower petals.
Step 3 – Attach the petals
After the petals are cut, layer the petals on top of each other and pushed a brad through all of the petals.
This is what a flower looks like before maneuvering the petals. Each flower needs fluffing and bending.
Tips for making crepe paper flowers
- I discovered the flowers look more realistic if you cut out a few smaller petals for the top of the flower. See the dark blue flower below? Experiment with petal shape! It’s fun and easy to make crepe paper flowers.
- I used Elmer’s glue dots to stick the flowers on the tin buckets.Tape would work great too.
I made 20 crepep paper flowers in different colors, shapes, and sizes.
Here is a behind the scenes photo from my “studio”, ha!
As of now the tin pails that I found on the side of the road for free are going to be used as silverware, pen, and napkin holders.
