Let’s be real, everybody loves receiving gift cards as gifts! But, you don’t always just want to hand somebody a gift card in an envelope, that’s well, boring. I’ve got a cute, easy way to give any kind of gift card, and best of all you can buy everything you need (gift card included) at a grocery store. Oh and don’t worry, it absolutely includes a cheesy saying, because as y’all know, those are my fave!
Here’s what you need to make a holly jolly gift card jar
- Clear glass jar large enough to hold the gift card
- 1 bag of Jolly Rancher Awesome Reds: Because reds are jollier and more delicious!
- Gift card
- White card stock
- Ribbon and yarn scraps
- Thin markers
- Hole punch
- Scissors
This little gift card holder is beyond simple to put together. First, trace and cut out a circle from your white card stock using the lid of your jar. Then, doodle on “Wishing you a holly jolly Christmas!” in your best handwriting. I also love the idea of letting the kiddos write the note, especially if it’s a teacher gift! Next, place the gift card inside of the jar and fill with Jolly Ranchers.
Now, it’s time to decide if you’d like your note to be on the top of your jar or tied around your jar (or you can do both)! If you’d like your note on the top of the jar, just sandwich your card stock circle between the metal lid and the ring.
If you choose to dangle, use punch a hole in the top of the card stock circle and tie with ribbon or yarn. Either way, add a few extra scrap pieces of ribbon, yard, curling ribbon, or twine to give the jar a little more spunk!
The “Holly Jolly” gift card holder is perfect for everyone since you can put any kind of gift card in your jar! Grab groceries and all the supplies needed to make this fun craft at your Kroger-owned neighborhood store! A little fun fact, there are more than 2,600 Kroger stores nation wide… who knew?
I hope your holiday season is off to a holly jolly start, and here are 23 creative ways to give money as gifts!

You hit the nail on the head. I have a bunch of teen I give gift cards to every year but I feel kind of lame just giving them an oh so obvious envelope. This is perfect. It would also make a great teacher gift.
