In case you are new here, I have a tiny bit of an obsession with handmade costumes, specifically super easy baby costumes for my sweet baby Maxwell! So far, he has a koala bear, game boy, and a cheeseburger costume! Today, Maxwell decided to dress up as a panda bear! And the best part? This sucker takes about 10 minutes to make and requires zero sewing. Oh and it doesn’t even mess up your solid color onesie. You’re welcome!
Here’s what you need:
- Black onesie (long sleeve is best for the full Panda effect, but I only had a short sleeve one on hand!)
- Black pants
- White hat
- Half a sheet of black felt
- One sheet of white felt
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- 2 safety pins
This costume is so easy, I did not even bother to take pictures of the process! Cut out 2 ovals for eyes, 2 half circles for ears, and a rounded triangle for a nose and hot glue them to a white hat. Voila! You’re done with the mask. Then cut out the biggest oval you can manage from the one sheet of white felt and use a safety pin to pin it to the onesie. Here’s a tip: Put the onesie on your nugget with the white oval attached only at the top. Then throw the black pants on over the onsie and pull the oval over the pants. Then use your second safety pin to pin down the oval to the pants.
I was too lazy to even sew on the white star eyes! Those were an afterthought when I was editing the pictures, ha! But, hand stitching little stars on the eyes definitely gives the panda a little spunk and only would only add 6ish minutes to the costume making!

Fun, cheap, easy?? You’re speaking my language there!! You call Maxwell, that’s funny, because my daughter and her husband call my gran baby nugget!
