We moved from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom place back in February 2012 (more on that here). The second bedroom now lives in pieces in a nook in the living room, under the bed and a (scary) hallway closet (more on that here). I spend a lot of hours in this little living room nook blogging it up, and it’s about time I spruced up the stacks of papers and post-it accumulation madness. I got rid of the receipt clutter with the help of this nifty contraption (more on that here). I’ve mentioned it before, but just in case you’re new here…I have 2 jobs: I’m a full time blogger and have a part time (mostly work-at-home) job as a social media marketer at EDENS. Thus why the file folders are labeled “C.R.A.F.T.” and “EDENS”
Martha, we’re on a 1st name basis {wink, wink}, sent me a giant box of goodies from Martha Stewart Home Office™ with Avery™. The line is only available at Staples, but you can buy most of the items online, here! (Holiday shipping and wrapping products are only in-store)
Just for fun, I put all the gift wrapping supplies neatly in the desk organizer and look how much fit in the drawer:
A few of my favorite things from the line include the chalkboard labels, magazine files, wall pockets, and planner. The chalkboard labels are cute, re-usable, and stick to everything, what’s not to love? For me, the magazine files are perfect for my small desk because I can keep the clutter standing up instead of spreading out. Now, organizing the blog is a tricky matter (more on that here), and my method includes writing everything down from twitter chats to post ideas. E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. goes in this folder. This folder needs a special spot.
She found a great home in a Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery wall pocket. Here she lives:
Here’s the whole office nook from afar:
Martha’s planner is awesome sauce too. I like that it has a wire binding, full page calendar spread (with BIG squares for writing), and sturdy monthly tabs for easy month flipping. Oh, and it has fun little reminders, like on January 6th you should recycle your Christmas tree or a friendly reminder that “mid winter is a good time to waterproof leather shoes and boots”.

A few months ago I saw the Martha Stewart/Avery display at Staples — what other three entities could pull this off?!? I was getting ready to make a trip from Arkansas to Texas to help my parents (83+) who had recently moved into an Independent Living complex. Mother has survived three different types of cancer in the last six years. Their property sold much sooner than expected which created a problem–especially after my dad got sicker– and complicated the move. After I saw the display and then listened to my mother’s organization problems, I picked up a few pieces that I thought she would actually use to take with me. (Since my husband and I are both disabled former teachers, we have a limited budget!)
It took a few times of talking to her about how much it would help her, but she finally understood and said she would try since I brought it to her. Long story short — we used the smaller 3-ring binder and the different page protectors to help her have pictures of great-grandchildren nearby when she gets frustrated. It also helped her have a reason to open the notebook to store receipts and “need-to-do” lists The dividers and tabs helped her quickly find what she was needed. I did not think she would use it enough to buy her the various types of papers; I just picked one or two of the most helpful ones.
Not only was she carrying and using the notebook before I left enough that she had gone through a box or two to find some paper she had years ago that fit exactly into it. Now I know what she and Dad need for Christmas! It would be wonderful if you could help me pay for some of it! I guess I am going to have to get my act together too or she will give me a hard time. 😀

I would love to use the magazine files and chalkboard labels to organize our office. I tend to throw the magazines on the desk and they can pile up.

Those cute Chalkboard Labels would be so handy to organize my small bins on the family room shelf by our computer, I know the kids would love them on their toy bins.

I love these types of things. I am peering at my computer monitor over a pile of junk on my desk, I have a few drawers that I shove everything in from time to time. Drives my husband nuts. 🙂 I could definitely use this line in my office.
