Are you a movie lover? Andy is too! I like movies, but Andy loves them! Hosting a movie night is a fun, inexpensive way to be social and entertain! Assuming you have the space, I love the idea of hosting 2 movie nights, one for kids and one for adults! Send the littles upstairs for a movie night to hang out, eat popcorn, and enjoy a flick. You could pay an older sibling to be in charge and keep them alive and happy while the adults enjoy a kid free movie!
Here are 5 party ideas for a movie night at home:
- Movie options
- Atmosphere
- Seating
- Snacks and drinks
- Favors
1: Movie options: Obviously, this depends on the audience. Kids, couples, all girls? If you’re hosting for the kiddos, I love E.T. Toy Story, or The Parent Trap! I don’t suggest being democratic about it… make the movie known days in advance and get the kiddos excited about watching it! Movie ideas for an all girls movie night include: Pretty Women, 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless, or Wild Hearts can’t be Broken (One of my all time favorite movies!). Those are just 3 of my personal faves. For a couples movie night, how about: When Harry Meets Sally, The Proposal, or Dumb & Dumber is always a good laugh!
2: Atmosphere: Movie night= casual and comfy. Heck, combine it with a pajama party! And make sure to have lots of blankets and pillows available for everyone to have a comfortable seat.
3: Seating: Don’t invite more people than your space can handle. But, do consider moving furniture around or even blowing up an air mattress to accommodate an extra couple or a few kiddos. Again blankets and pillows make everything better.
4: Snacks and drinks: Like I said above, we’re keeping movie night low key, but you gotta have some treats. I LOVE popcorn so that’s a no brainer for me. World Market has an awesome assortment of flavored popcorn and Italian sodas. Here are the 5 flavors I picked out:
I also bought these adorable popcorn containers at World Market to fill up with my favorite popped treat! That way each person has their own individual serving of popcorn. I don’t like to share my popcorn, ha! And they can mix and match flavors as they please. The italian sodas are delicious and mason jars and bendy straws make it all the cuter. And cute is always good, right?!
5. Favors: Because favors make any event a little more memorable (and these are so easy to do)! Just grab a few boxes of Cracker Jacks from World Market and print out this free printable that says, “Thank you for popping over for movie night!”
{Download movie night favor printable here}
Just print out the sheet, cut and attach to Cracker Jack box with tape. Easy.
Thanks for “popping” over and reading about hosting movie nights on C.R.A.F.T.! Do you love movies? Do you love popcorn? What’s your favorite movie? I’d love to hear…
Note: This post is sponsored by World Market, as always, all opinions are my own!
