A year ago, I put this post together of 20 unique pumpkin ideas. It was the #1 viewed post on C.R.A.F.T. in 2011 (more on that here). I think y’all liked it! So, I put together another pumpkin carving post complete with 21 new, clever pumpkin carving ideas for Halloween. Carving, embroidery, drilling, and melting are just a few of the unique ways to spruce up a pumpkin for fall.
1. Cookie Monster
Paint a pumpkin blue and then ,make 2 large eyes out of Styrofoam balls. Carve a wide “u” shaped mouth and fill with chocolate chip cookies. (Picture via TreudeKids.com)
2. Lighted polka dots
Use a drill to carve simple designs in pumpkins. Find out more via Crafty Nest.
3. Confused pumpkin
This pumpkin is not sure if it is Halloween or Thanksgiving.
4. Melted crayon pumpkin

5. Christmas Pumpkins
Give those Halloween pumpkins a facelift and up cycle them for Christmas! I love how Chica Circle turned her Halloween pumpkins into a snowman and ornaments for Christmas. Find out more at Chica Circle.
6. Ants
Turn 3 orange pumpkins into an ant with a few sticks and eyes!

Who said you can only carve pumpkins? Consider carving watermelons to re-create our favorite childhood turtles! Simple carve a mouth and use construction paper or paint to make each face mask. Add a glow stick to the inside of the mouth for extra effect!

I really like the fireplace pumpkins. That was beautiful. I also thought the lollipop pumpkin holder was a cute idea for the little ones to pick their lollipop.

I really like #13, and even though they call them porcupines on Martha’s website, too, they really look more like hedgehogs to me.
