It’s summer time, wahoo! At least here in Austin which means we’ve got temperatures pushing 100 degrees, ahh! So, today I’ve got some quick healthy snacks for you and the kids that are perfect for hot, summer days!
One super simple snack idea is to simply eat yogurt with a spoon straight outta the container! Bam. Done. But, while my one year old loves to try and use a spoon, try is the keyword and he typically ends up with whatever it is he is spooning all over his face, body, highchair, walls, and the floor. I decided to make this whole yogurt eating thing a little neater for us both and whipped up some frozen yogurt bites!
Here’s what you need:
- Yulu Yogut
- Wax paper
- Freezer
- Zip lock bag
- Plate that can go in the freezer
- Scissors
First, place a piece of wax paper over a freezer safe plate. Then dump the entire container of yogurt into a zip lock bag.
Next, cut the corner off of the zip lock bag off and create yogurt dots on the wax paper lined plate. You could also just use a spoon to make the dots! Like so:
Stick the entire plate in the freezer for about an hour or until the yogurt dots are frozen to the touch. Then, take the plate out and let the kids devour them! I usually let Maxwell eat them outside. He loves running around and then coming back on him own time to grab a few bites. They don’t last long enough to melt in our house, but it’s fair to note that they will melt at some point!
Sometimes I get fancy and put the yogurt bites into shapes of letters or numbers, like in the first image of the letter “M”. He doesn’t seem to care what way I give them to him as long as they make it to his mouth quick! I’d love some more quick, easy, healthy snack ideas for kids!
