That, my friends, is a picture of a tiny human going in my belly! I’m pregnant! He or she is pretty cute, huh? I’m pretty sure she/he’s waving at us in that sonogram picture! That was at my 12 week appointment, and the little peach was 3 inches long. I’ve done a little foreshadowing on the blog, I posted 22 gender reveal ideas as I was searching for some clever ways to make that announcement when the time comes!
I’m trying to be a good documenter over here. Well, honestly I’m trying to be a good pregnant girl. You know not eating raw eggs (no cookie dough?!), sushi, adult beverages, the list goes on and on. I’ve been pretty lucky as far as the whole “How am I feeling?” thing goes. No morning sickness. Well, those vitamins didn’t make me feel very good, but I finally figured out that if I take one right before I go to bed, then it doesn’t bother me. Oh and I’m sleepy, super sleepy. My eyes start to close everyday at 3-ish and I have to lay down for 30 minutes! I guess my first trimester is over, so they tell me I’m supposed to get a lot of energy back! We’ll see about that! I don’t exactly have a baby bump to share yet, I’ve gained a few pounds but really only noticeable to me (and my jeans!), see:
So, let’s talk about finding out your pregnant, the initial test. Were you overwhelmed with excitement or scared to death? I’m just super curious because I was 100% in the scared/ shocked to death category. We always knew we wanted to have a kid or 2, but it was certainly not in the next oh 9 month plan. (Little one, if you ever read this, you are a very loved surprise!) Not that we really have a plan, so yea. We feel very lucky/ blessed/ fortunate that we are having a baby! I just feel so… hmm… nervous? I mean I’m going to be in charge of caring for a human?! Eek. I can barely keep plants alive and feeding Andy and I actual meals proves to be tricky most nights. Here’s the fun picture I shared last week on my personal facebook page:
So, expect lots of baby things happening here on C.R.A.F.T.! And the baby fest is starting tomorrow! I’ll be sharing an awesome round up of pregnant Halloween costumes! I so wish I was going to have a bump for Halloween… maybe I will? Oh and I’ve got a secret pinterest board all about the little bambino’s nursery that I can’t wait to share with y’all too! Oh baby, this is gonna be fun (pun intended)! Anyone else pregnant? Due at the end of March 2014? Pregnant tips? I’d love to hear!
UPDATE: Here’s more on the baby front: The black and white nursery plan, painting the igloo, bambino gets a crib, the great rug hunt, the big bad mirror, and the gender reveal party.

Congratulations, Jamie!
My initial reaction to finding out that I was pregnant (one month after we got married) was, “OMG, WHAT DID I DO?”. I cried out of fear, then I cried out of… well more fear, because yeah I was all, “I’m going to be “IT”, “MOMMY”, and 100% responsible for another person”. I had many, many different emotions for the entire first trimester. I was, of course, worried about getting through the first trimester, and once I got there, I think I was finally on board with the “I’m gonna be a Mommy thing”, LOL, and just took it one day at a time from there. I had awful morning sickness up until week 12. Well, not really, morning… more like, 3 pm — evening sickness. So, I was fine until I was just about ready to start dinner, and then I couldn’t be around food. I ended up avoiding meat for a while, the baby didn’t like chocolate or salad for a while. But eventually, the fatigue and the nausea stopped (took my vitamins at night, best idea), and I got my energy back, and was back to eating normally and feeling really great. And, that continued, even throughout my third trimester, even after gaining 45 lbs, even after working a crazy job (I went on maternity leave 3 weeks before my due date).
Best advice, SLEEP WHEN YOU ARE TIRED. Eat well, treat yourself when you need that cupcake, but take your doctor’s advice when it comes to diet and how much weight they want you to gain overall. And, most of all, ENJOY THIS SPECIAL TIME. You’ll only ever experience for your first pregnancy once, you’ll only ever have this time to rest and savor it. My daughter turned 4 in June. It’s been quite the adventure, but it’s well worth all the trials you’ll go through to get there. Remember, a baby changes everything.
God bless you and Andy an your little peanut.
XO Theresa

The food aversion thing is so weird… for me, it’s coffee. I used to drink it everyday and now the smell makes me cringe!

Yay! Congrats!
My 1st was planned but my 2nd was not – I remember telling my hubby and he looked at me shocked and said “Am I the father?” LOL!
My 2 cents is don’t go all crazy with the pregnancy advice these days – take everything in moderation – yes, even wine, coffee and sushi! You don’t have to avoid everything like the plague just cuz your preg =)
Enjoy!

You already know how excited I am…to see the fun baby crafts! ;D I remember being so bummed that I didn’t show until well into my 7 month. I remember the first time a stranger mentioned my pregnancy, I wanted to kiss him!

7 months! Ahhh! I want a belly!

Congratulations!! One good thing about babies vs. plants is that babies always find a way to tell you they’re hungry… Unlike plants, lol. 🙂
I hope you get to enjoy this special time! You know how everyone says to take it all in because time flies? Well, they’re right. Both the good things AND the hard challenges pass quickly, so I try to keep it in mind during both situations… That sweet newborn smell? Breath it in, it’s gone far too quickly. Up for the sixth time in one night? Don’t worry, it’ll pass sooner than you know and you WILL sleep again. 🙂
Sorry, didn’t intend for that to be so long. Congratulations!

Good point, Tristin!

Congrats! Enjoy every minute of being pregnant and rest when you can! I still contend both of my pregnancies were surprises and and still dumbfounded at how it happened!

Exciting much. Not pregnant right now but your post brought me right back, yes no morning sickness but definitely 3pm siesta. And oh eating every 2 hours, thankfully didn’t put on too much extra weight. Tips, enjoy it don’t wish it away. All the restrictions it’s worth its only 9 months – less now. Can’t wait to see your project and nursery reveal. Best wishes, Carina

Congratulations! I don’t have any advice, but I’m sure once you get past the nervousness, everything will feel natural for you. I’m not a parent, but I know what it’s like to worry, so I imagine all will feel right once those feelings are gone.

Ohhh congrats! How awesome for you. I am almost 21 weeks, due early February 2014 with my fifth child. Advice? 1) Don’t be sucked into buying a bunch of stuff you don’t need. Do your research. 2) Everything will work out. I had never even held a baby or changed a diaper before my first son was born. He’s 18 and still alive so I did okay. 😉 3) Take naps when you can. 4) Enjoy maternity clothes shopping. 5) Take lots of pictures of yourself and your changing body along the way – you’ll never regret it! ♥

Congrats, Christine! Thank you for the tips 🙂

Congratulations!!! How exciting. There is nothing more amazing-and-alien-at-the-same-time than growing another human being.
My best advice (which applies to pregnancy and life with a baby) is to take all advice as friendly suggestions unless it comes from a doctor. Just a friendly suggestion!

Congratulations! Your lives will never be the same, in the best way! I don’t have much advice, I was a happy and comfortable pregnant lady. Even when I went into labor at 37 weeks I didn’t want to be done being pregnant yet. 😉 I guess the biggest surprise for me was all the kicking, I knew baby would kick out toward my belly button, but they also kick toward ribs, kidneys and… Um… Down. Ahem.
Also, there’s a recipe in Pinterest for eggless cookie dough. It isn’t meant to be cooked and it’s awesome. Search “pregnancy cookie dough” and it should come up. 😉

Yay….woot….AWESOME! How exciting ~ there is nothing better in the world than what you are experiencing now and of course, having that little perfect pumpkin in your life.
Congratulations!!!
P.S. I was super tired with my first and my third….with my second I was ‘strong like bull’ ~ enjoy whatever phase/type of pregnancy you have…cherish every minute of it (but you already know that).
Jacque says
YAYYYY!!!! I’m smiling from ear to ear! Congratulations!
Hmm advice? Enjoy bending over while you still can! I’m in that phase right now and every time I drop something I have to weigh in my head if it is important enough for me to have to bend over and get. Just so you know most things are not important enough hehehe 😉 Oh yes and enjoy the kicks and tumbles … I could lay around all day and just feel my little one moving around – it’s an amazing feeling!
Jamie Dorobek says
haha! Love that! I’ve heard I should enjoy painting my own toes while I can too!
