Wayfair.com asked me if I would like to be a part of a craft swap… let me thing… make and receive a craft via snail mail? Yes, please! I had 4 choices of craft canvases: cutting boards, tea towels, table cloth, or picture frame. I choose cutting boards! I made an outdoor tic tac toe set a few years ago and decided that that would be a fun and useful craft to send to my swap partner!
I used these bamboo cutting boards from Wayfair.com to make my tic tac toe set.
Making a tic tac toe set is easy peasy, all you need:
- cutting board
- painters tape
- paint brush
- paint
- 6 of one object and 6 of another (more on that below!)
Measure (or eyeball) where you want your first two lines to go, tape them off and paint! For easy measuring, I made all of my lines exactly one piece of tape wide. After painting the firs t2 lines, let them dry completely. I know, I know… it’s so hard. But while you wait, you can start thinking about game pieces! You can literally use anything from cereal to candy to rocks to buttons, sequins, toy cars, puzzle pieces, random other game pieces.
Next, measure and tape off the last 2 lines, then paint and let them dry completely before ripping off the tape and playing a few games of tic tac toe! In the pic below, I used black and white rocks from outside to play. Also consider jazzing up your game pieces if you’d like!
And check out what my awesome craft swap partner, Emily of Table and Hearth, crafted up for me! Super fun, right?! You can get the full tutorial of how to make this right here!
